Boys and girls ages 5-8 can be an Angel in Metropolitan Youth Ballet's production of The Nutcracker! This is a fun way for your child to participate in The Nutcracker—Tchaikovsky's timeless ballet and a holiday favorite. There is only a two-month time commitment and no prior dance experience is required.

Dancers will participate in the Angel scene at the beginning of Act II. Each dancer will perform in 2 of our 4 performances. Dancers will learn basic ballet technique and enjoy a unique performance experience. This is a good choice for children considering adding ballet as a new activity, as well as for MYB's Creative Dance II, Pre-Primary, and Primary level students. Dancers must be age 5 by September 1, 2025.

2025 Rehearsal Schedule
  • Fridays, 5:00-6:00pm, beginning October 24, 2025
  • No rehearsal on Friday, November 27 due to Thanksgiving
  • Mandatory Dress Rehearsals (each dancer will be called to one Saturday dress rehearsal and one theatre dress rehearsal):
    • Dress Rehearsal #1 – Saturday, December 6, 1:00-4:00pm; MYB Studios
    • Dress Rehearsal #2 – Saturday, December 13, 1:00-4:00pm; MYB Studios
    • Dress Rehearsal #3 – Wednesday, December 17, 5:00-9:30pm; STAR Bank Performing Arts Center
    • Dress Rehearsal #4 – Thursday, December 18, 5:00-9:30pm; STAR Bank Performing Arts Center

Your dancer will not be needed for the entire span of the dress rehearsals; their committed time will not exceed 90 minutes per rehearsal. A more detailed breakdown of specific rehearsal times will be available at a later date.

2025 Performances

Performances are at STAR Bank Performing Arts Center, Zionsville:

  • Friday, December 19 at 7:30pm
  • Saturday, December 20 at 2:00pm
  • Saturday, December 20 at 7:30pm
  • Sunday, December 21 at 2:00pm

Each dancer will perform in 2 of our 4 performances. More details will be provided once rehearsals begin.

Rehearsals and performances at STAR Bank Performing Arts Center are subject to change in the event of unforeseen circumstances.

Fees

The total Be An Angel fee is $250. This fee covers seven weeks of rehearsal, dress rehearsals, costume rentals, and production fees. Students provide dance shoes and rehearsal attire.

Each dancer will receive a complimentary recording of two performances (one with each cast) on a USB drive.

Required Attire

This attire is provided by the student and intended for use in rehearsal. The program fee covers performance costumes provided by MYB.

Girls' uniform:

  • Black leotard
  • Pink tights
  • Pink ballet flats
  • Hair in a bun
  • Chiffon skirt optional

Boys' uniform:

  • White dance shirt
  • Black tights
  • White/black ballet flats
